Acknowledgement of donations and reports

Thank you for your continued support of the Kyoto Prefectural University of Medicine Miyako Work-Life Balance Support Center.
In June 2014, we began accepting donations for the Center for the Promotion of Gender Equality, and as of March 31, 2023, we have received 10,400,000 JPY in donations from a total of 197 individuals, 7 medical school departments, and 52 corporations. Our deepest thanks to all of our generous supporters.
Through these donations, we have built a lactation room, renovated the women’s rest room, introduced and expanded the monitoring system for sick children in the nursery, as well as held lectures and published newsletters, among other PR and educational efforts. Some new initiatives for young people are the WLB Support Start Grant, the WLB Young Researcher Award, and the WLB Miyako Award.

The university established the Gender Equality Promotion Center as part of MEXT’s subsidies for the “Miyako Model for the Flexible Support of Female Medical Researchers,” adopted in 2010. Since that time, the center has developed various projects, such as operating a nursery for sick children and introducing positions subject to shorter working hours.
In 2019, the name was changed to Miyako Work-Life Balance Support Center (Miyako WLB Support Center) as part of our steps toward creating an environment where a wider range of medical professionals and researchers can enjoy their work and personal time and lead fulfilling lives regardless of their gender.
Going forward, we will continue to enhance our support systems for those involved in child-rearing and nursing care, as well as aim for efficiency reforms to the way faculty and staff of the university engage in work.
