◆ Nursery school
Conditions of Admission:

The child and the parent or guardian reside in the city.
Both parents/guardians are in labor, childbirth, illness, nursing care, or disaster recovery.
Application for Admission:
For admission at the beginning of the fiscal year, application forms are distributed at daycare centers and welfare offices from early November.

Night nursery

Responds to the demand for nighttime childcare. Each daycare center has a capacity of 20 or 30 children.
Childcare hours are from 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. (extended care is available from 9:00 a.m.; fees are in addition to childcare fees).

Day off childcare

Childcare is needed on holidays due to parental illness or work. Pre-school children residing in Kyoto City.
During the standard daycare hours (11 hours) at the facility where the service is provided, such as Sundays and holidays.
Free of charge for children enrolled in childcare facilities.

Childcare for sick children and children after illness

A child is ill or recovering from an illness and cannot be cared for at home due to work or other commitments. Temporary childcare is provided at a facility attached to a medical institution.

Municipal kindergarten:

Childcare Support Services

◆ Kyoto City Small-Scale Childcare Services(KCS)
This is Kyoto City’s unique system to provide daytime daycare for children from 57 days old to under 3 years old in a family-like atmosphere at the home of an individual due to the parent’s work, illness, or other reasons.
Nursery hours:
The basic schedule is from 8:30 to 17:00 and can be extended up to 11 hours if necessary.
Fee for day-care:
Determined by the income status of the person responsible for support, childcare hours, and other factors.

◆ Family Support Services
This is a program in which people who wish to receive assistance with childcare (Requesting members: Onegai-san) and people who wish to provide assistance with childcare (Offering members: Omakase-san) become members and help each other with childcare. Membership registration is required.
Eligible applicants:
You must live or work in Kyoto City and have a child up to 12 years old or be pregnant.
Usage fee (compensation):
Weekdays (Mon-Fri) 7:00-19:00, 700 yen per hour.
Other than the above, 900 yen per hour.

As a base of a familiar local child-rearing network, we designate “community child-rearing support stations” from among day-care centers (preschools) and childcare centers, and offer child-rearing lectures, free use of the school yard, and provision of information.
