R5 Future Step Researcher (part-time, short time)

Applications for FY2023 Future Step Fellowships are now being accepted in accordance with the following guidelines.

Kyoto Prefectural University of Medicine Future Step Researchers Handling Guidelines

(Purpose)
Article 1
This outline shall prescribe the necessary matters concerning the handling of part-time researchers (hereinafter referred to as “Future Step Researchers”) who are hired within the scope of the budget in order to form or extend their careers by working for a shorter period of time when it is difficult for them to continue their research, education, or medical treatment due to childbirth, childcare, or other reasons. The Act shall provide for necessary matters concerning the handling of part-time researchers (hereinafter referred to as “Future Step Researchers”) to be hired within the scope of the budget.

(Social status)
Article 2
Future Step Research Fellows shall be fixed-term faculty members as stipulated in Article 2 of the Kyoto Prefecture Public University Corporation Employment Regulations for Fixed-Term Faculty Members.

(Professional duties)
Article 3
Future Step Researchers shall engage primarily in research work.
2 Future Step Researchers may not engage in medical treatment without the permission of the Director of the affiliated hospital.

(Period of employment)
Article 4
The period of employment shall be from the date of hiring to the end of the relevant fiscal year.

(Employee)
Article 5
Future Step Researchers are recognized as faculty members, medical residents, or graduate students (who will have completed their studies by the end of the fiscal year at the time of application) of the University, or those who are recognized as equivalent thereto, who have difficulty in performing their duties during regular working hours due to childbirth, childcare, nursing care, or other reasons (hereinafter referred to as “childcare, etc.”), and who are willing to continue to perform their main research duties even after the period of childcare, etc. ends. The applicant must be an excellent researcher who has difficulty in performing his/her duties during regular working hours due to childbirth, childcare, nursing care, etc. (hereinafter referred to as “childcare, etc.”), and who is willing to continue to perform his/her main research duties after the period of childcare, etc. has ended.

(Hours of employment)
Article 6
The number of hours per week shall not exceed 28 hours, and shall be decided by the head of the department in consultation with the director of the Work-Life Balance Support Center Miyako (hereinafter referred to as the “director of the center”). (2) The number of hours per week shall be determined in consultation with the Director of the Work-Life Balance Support Center Miyako (hereinafter referred to as “Director”).

(Compensation, etc.)
Article 7
Future Step Researchers shall be compensated based on the basic salary for majors as stipulated in Appendix 2 of the University’s Employment Regulations for Fixed-Term Faculty and Staff, which is calculated based on the number of hours worked per week, plus an amount equivalent to a monthly commuting allowance.
2 Future Step Fellows shall not receive a retirement allowance.
3 Other working conditions for Future STEP Fellows shall be in accordance with the Employment Regulations for Fixed-Term Faculty Members.

(Selection process)
Article 8
Those who are eligible for employment under Article 5 and wish to be employed as Future Step Researchers shall apply to the Center Director via the head of their department on the “Future Step Researcher Application Form” (Form No. 1 attached hereto). The Center Director shall consult with the Work-Life Balance Support Center Miyako Steering Committee and the Research Committee before submitting an informal application to the President, who shall make the selection.
2 The application set forth in the preceding paragraph shall be accompanied by the documents listed in the “Future Step Researcher Application Form” (Form No. 1 attached hereto).

(Report of results)
Article 9
A person employed as a Future Step Researcher must submit a “Future Step Researcher Result Report” (Form No. 2) on the results of one year of research to the Center Director within one month after the end of employment.

(Supplementary rules)
Article 10
Matters not provided for in this outline shall be determined separately by the Director of the Center.

Supplementary Provisions
This outline shall go into effect on November 24, 2011.
This outline shall go into effect on January 11, 2013.
This outline shall go into effect on December 12, 2013.
This outline shall go into effect on March 27, 2014.
This outline shall go into effect on April 1, 2019.
